Events
There are a few different known events for Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver right now.
Pikachu Coloured Pichu Event

When you send the Pikachu Coloured Pichu to your Heart Gold or Soul Silver game,
then make it your partner(the Pokemon that follows you) by putting it at the top of your party, go to the Ilex Shrine in Ilex Forest.
You'll see the Notched Ear Pichu. After it plays with your Pichu a bit, it'll join your party.

Arceus Event
|
When you send over Arceus to your Heart Gold or Soul Silver game, when you get to a certain place, and meet Cynthia, you will be able to get a Lv.1 Dialga, Palkia or Giratina.

Jirachi Event
|
Apparently, when you trade Jirachi to your Heart Gold or Soul Silver game, you will be able to see new areas that were unavailable before.
